Nikon coolpix LS 7.2 MP

Question

Nikon coolpix LS 7.2 MP 5X zoon VR camera. Brand new - lens will not stay open - have taken about 50 pictures - just practicing - Worked when I put it away the last time - opened lens to use again and lens closes immediately. Lens Error with exclaimation mark. Please help!
