  1. The D60 has a cover or filter over the sensor which is designed to block most IR light (as well as handling something called "anti-aliasing"), and this filter makes IR shots extremely difficult to do.  The filter blocks IR light to ensure accurate color photos, as IR tends to induce color shifts.

What you first need is an IR filter on the lens, designed to let IR pass and block normal visible light.  This causes a problem, as your viewfinder will be black.  This makes composing and focusing difficult.  It's easier to shoot and then look at the LCD screen, then adjust if needed.

Next, you'll need an extended exposure time, often 30 seconds to a minute, to allow what IR can get past the sensor filter to make an image.  You'll need a tripod to keep the camera steady.

So, there's no easy setting to do IR.

When I want IR, I use a camera that has been converted to IR.  This involves removing the filter covering the sensor and replacing it with a filter that blocks visible light.

Otherwise, your choices are very long exposures or simulating it in Photoshop.

  2. The filter on the D-60 will not let you shoot in infrared however a simulated effect can be done in photoshop.
