  1. Nikon D80 is great

  2. Get the D80, it's a much better camera, you might not have as much little quirks, but you certainly get better photographs, and less noise at the higher ISO ranges. here's a comparison for you to see:

    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_...

The Nikon d80 is a mide-range professional camera, and the Nikon d6o is just a beginner, entry-level digital SLR

  3. If you have $500, get the D40.  The D60 is a lot more money for not much more phone.

If you have $1000, get the new D90, which will be available in the next couple of weeks.  It replaces the D80 which is two years old now. The D90 benefits from a lot of new features and development.  It has a better (VR = Vibration Reduction) lens too.

  4. Don’t buy it at any of these rip-off scam sites that are owned by George Sabato:

    www.photodynasty.com

    www.beststopcamera.com

    www.citywidedigital.com

    www.eastcoastdistributor.com

    www.infinitycameras.com

    www.jandkcameras.com

    www.mraccessory.com

    www.razzphoto.com

    www.regencycamera.com

Check out how many Better Business Bureau complaints there are (1000+).  He keeps changing names to avoid ripped-off customers and to trick new customers.

  5. Hey Joey,

If you have the money to back yourself up get the D80.

If not, just stick with the D40. The D60 is sort of a not really there camera but pay big bucks for it.

It sounds like you are just starting out in photography, the D40 is a very good start. As photographers know, the camera body is not so important as the lens. Lenses can cost $100-$3,000. Save some money to get a good lens instead.

Yeah, kenrockwell.com is a good site for you to start reading before you get into it, and even after you get into it.
