The Bayern Munich striker is eyeing a place in the final and is determined to beat the Ligue 1 side in the last eight fixture.
Nils Petersen has expressed his desire to beat Olympique Marseille in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League. The striker admitted that he is relieved on avoiding http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Real Madrid in the next round.
Petersen mentioned that it would have been difficult for the Reds had they been paired with either of the two Spanish sides. However, the attacker admitted that Marseille will also not be easy to beat as they had been improving
since the group phase.
He mentioned that Bayern will need to be on their toes from the word go as the French side will be confident especially after throwing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan out of the competition.
The attacker advised his teammates not to relax and continue their impressive run if they want to play in the final. He opined that if the Reds continue to play as they have in their previous two outings then Marseille will find
it hard to progress further.
Bayern humiliated Hoffenheim 7-1 in the Bundesliga last weekend before thrashing Basel 7-0 in their second-leg of the Champions League knock-out tie.
While talking to official club website, the former Energie Cottbus striker further added:
"Any team that eliminates [Borussia] Dortmund and Inter, and is standing in the Champions League quarter-final, has a lot of quality. There is no doubt about that. So, from that point of view, it will be a difficult task. But we're
will be able to go through with the kind of performance we had this week against Basel."
On the other hand, former Bayern midfielder, Andreas Herzog believes that the Reds are lucky to have avoided the La Liga duo in the quarter-final. He tipped Bayern to win against Marseille but predicted a tough outing for the Bavarians
if they draw Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
"For Bayern it is very good that they avoided Barcelona. But it will be difficult against Real Madrid [in the semi-finals]," Herzog concluded.
Bayern will play their first-leg of the last-eight clash on Wednesday, March 28, before hosting Les Phoceens for the return fixture on April 3.
