The Bayern Munich striker has signed for a season long loan for Werder Bremen and has also extended his current deal with the Bavarian giants.
Die Werderaner have acquired an adequate replacement for departed striker Claudio Pizarro and have signed former Energie Cottbus player Nils Petersen for a one-year loan spell. The club were keen to strengthen their options in
attack after Pizarro left for Bayern Munich this summer.
The Munich giants, after signing the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Pizarro-c9324 and Mario Mandzukic in this summer’s transfer window, found Petersen surplus to requirements and offered the player for a loan deal to Bremen. The club also have Mario
Gomez, who will be a guaranteed starter after a terrific couple of seasons with the UEFA Champions League finalists.
Christian Nerlinger insisted that Nils Petersen has a great future ahead of him and admitted that the striker can be a vital part of Bayern Munich in a couple of years. He insisted that it is a perfect opportunity for the striker
to gain first team experience and develop at Werder Bremen.
“Nils is a huge prospect as a striker. We want him to have the chance of gaining match practice, which he can do in Bremen. The fact we’ve also extended his contract demonstrates how much we value him. We believe he has a successful
future ahead of him in the Bundesliga and with FC Bayern,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Werder Bremen manager Thomas Schaaf expressed his delight on the transfer and admitted that the side has definitely acquired a top player in Nils Petersen. He is looking forward to the young attacker’s development
next season and is hopeful that the player will prove his mettle.
“He is a central striker who has already proven his ability to score. We are happy that he is coming to us. We are certain that he will have the right conditions to continue his development,” he concluded.
Petersen made 15 appearances for Bayern Munich in is maiden campaign last term and scored four times in the process.
