Nine sacks help Philadelphia Eagles edge past Miami Dolphins in Week 14 – NFL Recap
The Philadelphia Eagles kept their playoffs hopes alive by beating the Miami Dolphins 26-10 in Miami in their Week 14 game on Sunday, 11th December.
The victory came amid a recovery from their last week’s embarrassing loss to the Seattle Seahawks. However things do not look as bright for them as they still need to win their next three games to reach the playoffs. This was the
second victory for them in the past six games.
The Dolphins looked pretty strong having won the last four of five games with lots of improvement, but nine sacks by the Eagles and a head injury to their quarterback Matt Moore saw them facing an embarrassing defeat at the hands
of the Eagles.
As expected, the arrival of quarterback Michael Vick helped the Eagles. The Eagles had fared poorly in his absence losing two of three games. Returning from a rib injury, Vick threw for 208 yards and scored a touchdown with just
one interception.
As the first quarter progressed, the Dolphins were able to take the lead after Brandon Marshall scored a touchdown of a 16 yard Pass from Matt Moore. So when the later the Miami Dolphins lost, the receiver sure looked upset.
"We've been on a roll. It stinks that our momentum was stopped." Marshall said.
However, the second quarter saw a comeback by the Eagles who managed three touchdowns and a field goal within a short span of just nine minutes. The first touchdown was scored by LeSean McCoy as he ran 2 yards of the kick of Alex
Henery. Less than two minutes later, McCoy hit back with another touchdown again on the kick of Alex Henery helping the Eagles to a lead which they would maintain for the rest of the game. McCoy scored two touchdowns despite going for just 38 yards.
Alex Henery then went for a 40 yard field goal three minutes later. This was followed by a 34 yard pass by Vick to DeSean Jackson that went for a touchdown.
Miami attempts of a comeback proved futile as they could only manage a 22 yard field goal scored by Dan Carpenter. The loss of Moore and later receiver Jeremy Maclin who left after his hamstring injury worsened badly affected the
Dolphins.
Nine sacks and a poor show put up by the offensive linemen were to be blamed for the loss. Guard Richie Incognito accepted the blame for the loss.
