The strongest link on the highly moderate line-up of the Final Tote.Com BBQ Evening At Naas 25th July Handicap is the four-year-old bay gelding, Ningaloo Reef. Contesting against him for the €4,830 prize money are nineteen other three-year and
above contestants. The six furlong race will be held at Naas on Wednesday, 11th July.
The only entry to have won at the race course, and that too through the most recent outing is Acclamation’s bay gelding. His 2012 campaign took off on 29th March, 2012 at Limerick in the Tote Jackpot Handicap over seven furlongs.
The race was won by the favourite entry, Bankroll, who won by the margin of 4 ¾ lengths while finishing the closest was, Landsdowne. Ningaloo Reef ended fifth on the track of twelve.
The next three races of the Irish Madanisa foaled were failures.
Fifth outing of the season got the Garvan Donnelly trained his seasonal success in the Play The Tote Placepot Handicap (Division I) on 27th June, 2012 at Naas over seven furlongs.
Ningaloo Reef and jockey, Wayne Lordan, began their trip from the fourteenth stall, and by the time half of the distance was under way, the two were closing in from the fifth position. The duo clung to their tactic through the final two furlongs of the race
and broke through the challenge inside the final furlong while leading by ¾ of a length.
Wellmarked concluded the race the closest while the favourite entry, Pre Tax Profit, ended thirteenth in the field of sixteen contestants.
If the Patrick McCartan bred will be able to strike a back to back at Naas through the race today in companionship with jockey, Seamie Heffernan, will come out in the open after the six furlong event.
He will need to look out for the Irish bay mare, Luckiest Owners, as she has proved out to be profitable for the connections when riding with jockey, Leigh Roche.
She has not won a race in her four year career, and this season might just prove out to be the luckiest for her, giving her the long awaited chance and success.
