I'm about to get the permit, take the course for a motorcycle license. Question is simply; Is the Kawasaki Ninja 250 a better choice than the Honda Nighthawk 250, I'm aware of the power differences, what about to learn on?

  1. The newer Ninja's are supposed to be great first bikes. I'll tell you what I was told though....and it rang true....go for a Ninja 500R. It is just as easy to learn on and if you ever want to get out on the highway you have the adequate passing power you need.

  2. I have to agree with joes--the Ninja 500r is probably your best bet. It's as easy a ride as the 250, and you definitely have the juice to get out of the way of idiots in cars who don't pay attention to motorcycles.

  3. Style doesnt have anything to do with it. Get what  you are comfortable on. And remember there is a difference between comfortable for 10 min and a couple of hours. Sport bikes are short term ride bikes. And style can get you killed, these kids on here do not understand that. Hyosung makes both a 650 and 250 in the GT style. You might want to look at them as they have adjustable controls  on them. They are good motorcycles and are not from china.

  4. The Ninja is a great little bike, as is the Nighthawk, yet ultimately it depends which bike you feel most comfortable on.  Sit on both bikes, feel the weight, and be honest about what kind of riding you'll be doing, etc.  Don't really worry about power- both are small cc bikes that will, as others have pointed out, feel underpowered pretty quickly.  Style and comfort are what matters, if you are set on a 250.
