Just to get an idea, about how much would a used one go for? Or would just buying it new be better.

  1. I would say buy a used one. You can look on www.cycletrader.com/ and search your area. Depending on year, you can pick up a fairly new 250 with like next to nothing for miles for under 2k. It seems like on the 250's, once they leave the dealer, the value dropped hard, compared to like a ZX6R, 10R, 14R, etc. But best bet is get a used one which will run you well under $2k. I seen a 2004 just a few weeks ago for $1200, so if that gives you an idea. But check out cycle trader or even your local news paper.

  2. A new 2008 Kawasaki 250 Ninja is $3499

dealers are sold out for the year and some dealers have a waiting list of buyers

used ones are going for a premium price cause they are in big demand

if you do find a used one i would suggest to snatch it up as quickly as possible cause it will sell quick

many people that want a 250 Ninja are buying the 200-250cc dual sport bikes as an alternative, ( Yamaha TW200, Suzuki DR200, Honda XL230 )

axodis has no clue what he's talking about, he must be living in a cave and was never in a motorcycle dealership

  3. Joe B. is right in that most dealerships have sold out of the Ninja 250R (no more allotments), so your only alternative may be to buy a used one.  Personally, I would wait for the 2009 to come out.  It'll probably be around $3500 MSRP and, if you can afford that, it will be a bike you keep for many, many years.  I bought a bigger bike but I still take the Ninja out often.
