So I'm interested in ninjutsu. But I heard that a lot of what it used to be has died out. So i'm a little confused here. But is there still taijutsu or whatever? Pardon the spelling.

And if I wanted to learn the art of either/or could I?

Help me out here.

  1. Taijutsu is loosely translated to "Body Movement"

It is how the moves are done. Budo Taijutsu "The current name of Ninjutsu" is warrior movement.

But if you are intersted in the art it self then there are some great web resourses.

    http://www.skhquest.com/

    http://www.genbukan.org/

    http://www.jinenkan.com/

Thats the big ones on the block Hope that helps.

  2. I've heard the same, that those styles don't actually exist or that they're other styles mixed together. Sort of like Jeet Kune Do, a mixture of styles plus original style plus no style. I think it's just the evolution of martial arts. Definitely do some intensive searching for schools in your area. Don't stop at one that seems cool... check around. You might find a system that is for you, taught by an excellent instructor. Watch the advanced students, watch the instructors... there are a lot of scams and straight up lame schools out there. I used to drive an hour 5 days a week to train at a school I believed in. I ran into financial problems and ended up moving away, but it was a great school.

  3. ninjutsu/Ninja is still alive today and in America. Taijitsu is still being used for self defense, yes.

  4. Taijutsu is a part of ninjutsu. It is the unarmed fighting techniques of the ninja, and yes, it most certainly exists. It's called Bujinkan budo taijutsu. The Bujinkan is made up of 9 ryu/schools that were taught to Soke Hatsumi (head of the Bujinkan)by his teacher Soke Toshitsugu Takamatsu, which include 3 ninjutsu ryu. You can certainly learn the art! If you want to learn more, go to www.ninjutsu.com. Great place to start. It has a dojo locator so you can find an authentic Bujinkan dojo close to your location.

  5. Bunjinkan is the primary school of Ninjutsu, and the most widely taught aspect of Ninjutsu here in the states. As far as Taijutsu, that is not technically a martial art. It's more of a term associated with many Japanese martial arts, including Jiujutsu, Ninjutsu, Aikido, and Judo. It's more of a term used to distinguish unarmed combat from armed combat.
