Nintendo 3DS sees massive price drop
The Nintendo 3DS has gone on to witness a massive price drop, which is now valid all across the globe. The 3DS was previously available for a price of around two hundred and thirty pounds, but that price seems to have taken a massive hit.
In the United Kingdom, a number of retailers went on to cut the prices off the hand held device, prior to the actual date of the cut.
Nonetheless, due to this premature price cut, some stores are now selling the device for a hundred and twenty pounds, while others are selling it for a hundred and fifteen.
There are certain stores, who seem to be taking a rather unique road as they seem to have admitted that they are going to match the prices of any store nearby and then further cut it by ten percent. Despite that sounding like a rather bizarre marketing strategy,
it seems to be a highly effective one.
Despite these massive price cuts that have already taken place, it seems more than likely that the device will face an even further price cut in the near future.
As a result, it seems like all this competition that the retailers have going on amongst themselves, is not only going to get the 3DS’s price down significantly, but it is also going to make it available to the masses. At the same time, it seems like irrelevant
of what retailer comes out on top, it’s the customers who end up winning.
It is kind of unclear as to why the 3DS is going through such drastic price cuts, but one very prominent reason that comes to mind, is the inevitable release of the PlayStation Vita. The latest handheld from Sony is set to hit stores in the near future and
is going to target almost the same crowd that the 3DS caters to.
Due to that very reason, it seems like all the retailers seem to have agreed to let the 3DS go for as low as they possibly can, in order to max out their sales of the device and avoid having to store it in bulks.
Despite the Vita not hitting stores for another couple of months, it seems like it is already taking Nintendo to the edge of their seats.
This price cut apart from increasing the 3DS’s sales for the time being, is also going to get customers to question the credibility of the device, as well as infuriating owners who previously paid full price for the device.
