The developer of the Gears of War series, Epic Games, believes that Nintendo’s next generation console will blow people away.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 is just a few months away and everyone in the gaming community is excited to see what each publisher and platform developer has in-store.
There is plenty of speculation regarding whether or not Sony and Microsoft will reveal their next generation home consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720. While the platform developers themselves have denied any hardware reveals at this year’s event, there is plenty of evidence suggesting that it just might happen.
Nintendo, though, are sure to give everyone more of a taste of the Nintendo Wii U, which is their next generation console. The Wii U left many unconvinced during last year’s E3 when it was officially revealed and led to share prices of the company drop consecutively two days in a row.
However, Nintendo has been able to help market the console better for the hardcore gaming demographic by announcing a number of titles for their console. Those titles range from Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham City to EA Sports FIFA 12, with many more on the way.
One developer, Epic Games, though has been the loudest in its praise for the console. The studio behind the Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War series, has had nothing but praise for the Wii U and singled out how other developers have made superb use of the controller’s touch screen functionality.
Mark Rein, the Vice President of Epic Games, stated, “I like the Wii U. I Think E3 will be a big eye-opener for the people. I played Batman: Arkham City on the Wii U and they are doing some really cool stuff with the controller.”
He continued, “Do you remember the Zelda demo they had on it? Would you not buy a Wii U just to play that? Of course you would. That’s what Nintendo is all about. Their hardware is the software deliver service for their great content. That Zelda demo was gorgeous and we can do even more than that with Unreal Engine 3. I think it will do great.”
