Nintendo boss talks about delay in launch of TVii
Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has not turned a blind eye to the disappointment felt by the Wii U users because of the delay in the launch of TVii.
During an interview with MTV multiplayer blog, the company executive pointed out that the users purchasing the Wii U console on the first day of its launch will find the Netflix application to be active already.
However, he confirmed that the complete video-on-demand service for Wii U will not be launched before December.
Fils-Aime asserted that the latest offering by Nintendo needs to be looked at as a living and breathing system that will continue to evolve into something better and more fulfilling with every passing day.
He said that the company is aiming to make Wii U a complete entertainment package and even though some of its most appealing features were not patched in the system at the time of its launch, they will definitely be arriving next month.
"Wii U is a living breathing system, and what I mean by that is the experience that consumers will have tonight as they first open the system will be different than the experience that they have two weeks from now, it will be then even more different two
years from now. We believe that its our responsibility to continue bringing new experiences, to continue refreshing the experiences that we have, and in doing so, I think that's what's going to have consumers continue to pick up and engage with that gamepad
every single day,” he stated.
Nintendo’s TVii service will allow users to watch shows, films and sporting events on Wii U’s tablet device GamePad, which serves as the game’s controller.
The service will also act as a social hub between users, allowing them to interact with each other through Miiverse, Facebook and Twitter.
Wii U is the first console in the next-generation space and is the first-ever HD console by Nintendo. The system launched with 23 titles in North America and includes some popular franchises, namely Mario and Assassin’s Creed.
The new Nintendo console will launch in Europe and Australia on November 30, while it will arrive in Japan on December 8.
