Nintendo friend codes??

when i went to the part where you get the friend code i asked the guy for it and he was like your not connected to "something"?? please help thanks (y)

You definitely need to get your Pal Pad if you haven't already.  It is found in Oreburgh City.  Go downstairs and talking to the people one of them will give you Pal Pad.

You still need to connect to Wi-Fi to get your own friend code.  If you haven't connected to Wi-Fi before you have to set it up.  When you turn on DS there will be an Wi-Fi Settings - highlight it by using the scroll buttons and Press A.  Follow the steps.  You have to have one of three things:

1) Wireless Router that is capatible with your DS

2) Be in a hot spot - which is normally a library or a local cafe.

3) Internet connection that you can connect your Wii/DS USB connector

Once you have established a connection on the Wi-Fi go to your Pal Pad in the Key Items list and your friend code should be registered there.

UPDATE:

Pal Pad is the device that will let you register all the friend codes.  You have to register them manually.
