  1. I have an SD card which I use to store some game files. I recommend getting one.

  2. Absolutely! Add an SD card to your Wii. If you start downloading Wii Ware or a lot of virtual console games it is an absolute requirement.

Essentially anything you can run by selecting a channel can be stored on the micro SD card (channels, virtual console games, wii ware). You can also copy saved game data to/from the sd card. However, you can't run anything or restore any saved games directly from the SD card. You have to copy from the SD card back to your Wii main memory. Having to manually move things back and forth is just ridiculous and Nintendo better provide a solution.

I would highly recommend you go ahead and get a 2GB version of the memory card if you can find a deal that works for your budget. Good Luck!

  3. you should get it, i got it and its great, after, u can download it to your computer, save the files onto a cd then use the card for a camera....

  4. You would probably get a better deal buying a 2GB SD card rather than a 1GB, they usually only cost a few dollars more and offer double the storage. Don't get anything higher than 2GB though since the Wii doesn't have SDHC support (basically, no support for cards over 4GB+). I'd also recommend against getting a cheap card, since it probably has a slow transfer speed.

And I believe you can move any of your saves and channels to the SD card, but they can't be accessed unless you put them back in the console's flash memory.

Also, just to let you know, downloaded games are tied to your Wii, so you can't move them to a different console with a SD card. Anything you pay for and download from the shop channel can be re-downloaded for free though, as long as you are using the same Wii console it was originally downloaded to.

  5. The SD card currently can only be used to back up save state and channel date.

Information on the card isn't used in real-time data transactions.

The chip used to power the card reader is SLOW.  It takes about 10 minutes to copy over a 300 block file.

Sounds like Guitar Hero World Tour on Wii will use it for storage for downloadable content somehow, but for the most part it's just used for backup.

I have about 10 channels stored on mine to make room for more channels that i wanted to download from the Wii Shop channel.
