Nissan 240sx question?

A good car to get? I've seen people having problems with these cars.

yes its a great car to get it 1 of the best japanes drifters and they last for a long time but you just have to get one with a lil low milege and make sure it has no oil leaks or any other proplems but realy they are great cars

I really like those cars but truthfully i know what you mean everyone i see is broken down. if you are looking to buy a car or nissan i recommend the nissan 300z fairlady.

A car is only going to be as good as its previous owners kept it.  When I bought my 9240SX hatch in 1997, it appeared to be in good working order.  The day after I bought it, the muffler fell off.  Two weeks after that, the clutch went out.  Within the first year of owning that car, it had a completely new exhaust, clutch, water pump, power steering pump, alternator, and clutch fan.

I ended up contacting the previous owner after the clutch only to find out his son was the one driving it in Nevada while at school.  No records of any oil changes or any other types of service.

I got a lemon, but when I sold it 5 years later, it was in near perfect mechanical order, all with 157k on the odometer.

Be carefull when buying used cars.  If the owner has all the maintenence records, and the car looks to have been taken care of, then you can probably rest easy...but those are the risks we take when buying used cars.
