  1. Personally Honda beats them all.  That being said recent Mazdas reflect the Ford influence, plastic parts, paint that fades, lack of dependability.  My bro in his mid life crisis bought a Miata.  The first gen was fairly reliable; but, it was totaled.  The next one (2000) showed more of the Ford influence IMO.  He still has it; but, it is falling apart and it's not high mileage.  The friends I know with Nissans are still holding together and don't seem to have too many mechanical problems.

Stay away from anything that is spraying or been tweaked because it has been most likely ridden hard and put away wet.  My daughter wouldn't listen to the old man because this VW was soooo cool, now she has tweaked VW Cabie that is a mechanical nightmare. AKA The Money Pit or POS.

  2. Mazda's are sportier and bit more expensive, but they tend to wear out fast. Unless you plan on selling your car in five years, then I would reccomend a Nissan... Sentra.

  3. Both are good names and to be fair in this modern age Nissan is part of Renault,Volvo,Toyota,Ford and Mazda so really all you are getting is a mix and watch from each company and that's how all car firms work now .

Myself we was that impressed by older Nissan's which are in our price range and had no problems with them and had some really high miles ones we stick to Nissan and atm on our 5th.

As for the answer about not being sporty there about the most sporty company out there.

  4. Both are reliable and are about equal.

The model I would recommend depends on the class of car you are looking at.

For example, Mazda 3 > Nissan Sentra

    Nissan 350z > Mazda RX-8
