Nitro Circus to make its trip to Australia without Travis Pastrana
American legendary action sports athlete Travis Pastrana will not be joining his Nitro Circus crew members during their tour of Australia at the end of April.
The 28-year-old Maryland-based star will be focusing on motorsports instead, the career that he had recently adopted.
Instead of performing gravity-defying and mind-boggling tricks on his bike, Pastrana will be taking his seat behind a steering wheel, trying to outrun a huge line-up of seasoned NASCAR driver
“I have never been more helped or supported in anything I have done than I am in NASCAR. I've got the support until I crash enough cars or get too many bad results. But until then, the people behind me are willing to stand behind me. After last year, I don't
know how much rope I have. I'm on strike two,” said Pastrana during an exclusive interview with ESPN.
The multiple-time X Games gold medallist will also be looking to polish his RallyCross skills in order to increase his chances of getting a podium finish at the latest edition of the ESPN-hosted mega-event of action sports that is scheduled to go down in
Los Angeles, America, during the last week of June.
While the absence of Pastrana from the Nitro Circus will be immensely felt, one of the crew members Jolene Van Vugt feels that they will still be able to put on a mesmerising show in Australia.
She revealed that a number of new action sports athletes had been added to the crew to fill Pastrana’s shoes, which include Bob Burnquist, Matt Rebeaud and Adam Jones. The previous crew members will be joining the Circus during the Tour of Australia and
New Zealand as well, promising to deliver the same extent of thrill that they successfully delivered last year to the action sports fans.
Van Vugt further added that even though Pastrana was not going to be travelling with them at the end of April in order to concentrate on his motorsports career, he was still helping them out with their training, giving his valuable suggestions and guidance.
"He's always still around, helping and giving his Travis input," Van Vugt says. "We're all really good at motivating and supporting each other.
While the Nitro Circus crew is training in Pastrana’s backyard currently, the action sports legend plans on opening facilities around the nation in the coming months to aid, encourage and promote the action sports athlete to push boundaries in the sport.
