Question:

Nitro RC car won't start?

After what I believed to be flooding the engine I followed the directions to clear the engine on my brand new hpi nitro evo drift rtr. When I replaced the glow plug exactly as it was before I noticed a loud metallic sound and difficulty pulling the starter cord. I soon realized this was the piston hitting the glow plug. What do I do about this? this is my first nitro RC car and I live over an hour from a hobby shop.

  1. Did you make sure you put a washer on the new plug?    Also make sure you got the right plugs.  There are some for planes that are too long for some car engines and will do exactly what you describe, as will no copper washer on the plug.

  2. The plugs threads are to long, you can order from here, and call them and see what they recommend,i buy all my r/c stuff here,i just hope you didn't do any damage to the piston. You can also put another washer on the plug, thats why they generally come with 2 washers.
