Will NHRA and IHRA ever find a solution to the nitro shortage? What is your take on the shortage?

  1. Seems like VP dropped the ball. They agreed to be the NHRA supplier. NHRA execs seem lost since the sale of the pro side failed...maybe too busy counting chickens to see this. The royal ***** slap ($100,000 fine and public flogging for selling nitro to racers) to Shoe (just as this blew up) really turned out to be poorly timed since he appears to be the last best hope for this (NHRA) season.

Yawn....Good for Schumacher, maybe he will sell it to Nostalgia cars, to RC plane guys.

NHRA execs are amature enough to be in this spot, they will need someone alot smarter and diplomatic to get them out of it.......

    Godspeed Wally!!!!

  2. The IHRA is very good towards the Independent Nitro racers who race as a hobby. They have plenty of nitro there with their Torco Fuels. NHRA doesn't care at all.

  3. I find it hard to believe that no company produces nitro here in the states. This is one example of how much this country has become dependent on everyone else. Think what would happen if this were something a little more important than race fuel. If I ran the NHRA, I'd be looking into producing nitro close to home. It would just make good business sense.

  4. There are so many different sides to this shortage. IHRA will be fine they got their nitro from someone else and they have enough to run till 2009. And Schumacher's sitting on probably more than 600 drums at his shop! Which he planned to sell to the other teams for Monday testing well NHRA said nope no more Monday testing at NHRA  tracks loophole... Torco has some fishy things going on because people I've heard from cannot get nitro nor racing gas from them... Schumacher can make a season or not if they don't have enough till after September which is when they will start making it in China again. Think about it 80 drums per weekend less now without Monday testing and now their firing them on alcohol in the pits that will save a lot. I just really hope they don't cut any sessions and get every thing back to normal. But that probably want happen because of the economy...  My main outlook on the shortage is that VP racing fuels should got all the nitro they could when they could they just dropped the ball now we have to suffer from it...

  5. Hmmm...as i understand it the NHRA new all about this and did nothing about it. Today they have now banned all testing. Hoping the ban will see them through the year. Over here in England we have loads of Nitro but because of company rules it can't be sent to the USA. This is another example of the NHRA failing to take action or have vision of the future. This weekend there are on 15 top fuel cars at a meeting...now thats a sorry state of affairs. A few years ago you would have 30 fuel cars and i can remember going to a race in the USA where there where over 50 Top Fuel cars....They need to get a handle on it and stop blaming everyone else.....this is what u get when one organization tries to control everything.

Nitro used to be made in the USA but they stopped making it because several top teams brought it in from China at a much cheaper price.....we dont have these problems here in the uk because we dont have an organization telling the racers where they can buy there fuel from.

  6. Yeah, they can get rid of VP fuels and open it up to other suppliers!!!  The CEO of vp went after shumacher!!!  They want him to sell them his supply (that he was fined for having on site at an event) then sell it back to him at a marked up rate!!!!  Allow other suppliers in and everything will be fine.
