  1. From what I read the crystal is not covered by warranty. Nixon can probably replace it but at what cost plus shipping? If you are to willing to use a little elbow grease you can get the scratch out. You need some garnet sandpaper (hardware store), one sheet of each; 220, 400, 600, 1000, 2000 grits. Lay the paper on a flat surface. Start with 220 and sand the crystal until the scratch is gone, being careful to not scratch any metal. Now the crystal looks like dookie. Work your way up through the grades of paper sanding like before. If you sand long enough with each grit you'll have a smooth surface after the 2000. Now it's time to compound. I recommend 3M Rubbing Compound. Rub it on hard 'till it's dry and then polish with a soft clean cloth. Repeat if necessary. I've made many crystals look new doing this. Buy your paper at a small store that sells it by the sheet. You can get the compound at Walmart. Everything should cost you less than $15. One more thing. Never buy a watch that doesn't have a sapphire crystal. They are virtually impossible to scratch. Good luck.

  2. This? http://www.nixonnow.com/watches/mens/the...

It comes with a 2 year warranty. Their website says http://www.nixonnow.com/service/warranty...

"...but, this doesn't mean you can abuse your watch and expect us to fix it for free. We don't cover normal wear and tear or batteries, crystal, watch case, strap, bracelet, loss or theft. You will void your warranty if you open your caseback, push the buttons underwater, or forget to s***w down or push in the crown and expose your watch to moisture.

Problems? Call Nixon at 1 888.455.9200. We'll get you a Return Authorization number and talk you through a solution. We're open from 8 to 5 pacific time, Monday to Friday. Watches sent back to us without a Return Authorization number will not receive service.

NOTE: Your warranty is not void if you do not register your watch.  ..."

By the way, it does not have a 'glass cover'. the glass 'window' you view the face of the watch through is called a crystal.

    Good luck.
