So this is what i may have to do. Buy the 650r.. an 06. This will be my first street bike. I have a little bit of dirt bike experience. I know how to shift, stop, turn, etc. I took the MSF class last October.

It kind of sucks that it's almost forcing me into a bigger bike then maybe nesscarry.

Yea i know i could buy a old 250 ninja.. but would you? haha. They are fug ulgy and just not superior bikes. The only reason i really wanted a new 250 is b/c of the looks and amazing upgrades.

idk, just looking for some kind advice.

P.S im 6'0 about 175-180 and a 23 yr old male.

  1. At six feet tall the 650 is a better choice anyways. If you had gotten the 250, you'd be wishing you had the 650 in about 2 months.

There is nothing really exciting about that 250 man. It's a scooter with handsome plastics. get the 650. The CCs mean nothing. It's all about the tuning. It's not a race bike. It's a sport tourer with an upright riding position and isn't geared for the high end performance of a true sport bike.

    You'll be fine!

  2. 650r will take a boat load of discretion on your part. If this is the two cylinder I say OK. If it is the 4 cylinder I'd say get the 2 cylinder Ninja or Suzuki's SV 650.

  3. I second the vote for an SV650. It is a great bike for beginners and experts alike. Not as good looking as the 250R or 650R in most peoples eyes though. I'm thinking of buying one just as a track bike.

  4. Look at the Hyosung GT's the 250 will run with the ninja. This is a first rate company not imported c**p. Well worth looking into.

  5. The Ninja 500R may also be a good choice.  This will be about $1000 less than the Ninja 650R

The Ninja 250R is in very high demand right now.  The MSRP for this bike is about $3500.  However, if you can find a new Ninja 250R for sale, you will pay $1000 - $1500 above the MSRP.  So if you are going to pay $5000, you may as well spend an extra $500 for a Ninja 500R.

You would have quickly gotten tired of the Ninja 250R.  It wouldn't be very long and you would be looking for something more.
