No Adjustment Possible for the Yahoo Ratings Filter?

On the Yahoo Message Boards, it appears you can rate a post low enough that it disappears from everyone's view. If you find your post, it shows

"This message is hidden by your ratings filter. You may reduce your minimum rating to view this message".

Yahoo Help says to adjust the filter settings under Messageboard Settings, but there is no section for Rating Filters in this view.

Looks like a way for people who don' t like your ideas to make your post disappear.

I don't see a way to adjust the ratings filters so I'm not sure what they mean by that. You are right, it is basically a way for people to make your post disappear if they don't like the post.

From what I have found though, most people are really fair about this and only mark something down if it is really negative, or quite nasty. The only ones I've seen hidden like that seemed like they deserved it and I was proud of the people for rating it that way. It pays to be nice on public forums.

I've seen this done by using a layer of non-woven fabric under the sand. Some sort of sand stirring animal life is needed and the flow rate is MUCH slower,so you have to watch out for anaerobic spots that can produce sulfates. Careful monitoring of the Nitrogen Cycle is necessary for a few months. If done correctly one can create a "Plenum" that will actually remove Nitrates from the system. But this is not for beginners and requires advanced aquarium skills.
