Luca di Montezemolo, the Ferrari President has expressed a lot of satisfaction with the current team structure confirming that he is not interested in making any changes with the current squad. Although he says that it is a big
disappointment to have lost, the Drivers’ as well as the Constructors’ Championship, he believes that they have a winning combination and that the next year is going to be even better for the team.
As per some of the early reports the position of the Ferrari Chief Engineer Chris Dyer was in danger however di Montezemolo has ruled out all such speculations proclaiming that a single mistake does not make him any less eligible
for the team. At the season’s decisive race, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Dyer’s poor race strategy cost Fernando Alonso the Championship. Following in the footsteps of Red Bull’s Mark Webber, Ferrari also decided a quick pit stop for Alonso. However, the decision
proved fatal for the Spanish driver as he got stuck behind traffic and latter had to run for 40 laps behind the Renault driver, Vitaly Petrov who did not let him take over all through the race thus taking away the Championship hopes from the driver.
Still the Ferrari President believes that he is an asset for the team and he does not wish to lose him. While talking to the media the Italian said, "Changes within the team? That is not our philosophy, because for years now we
have adopted a policy based on dynamic stability. A few minor adjustments are possible, but no major upheaval."
While talking to the media, Di Montezemolo demanded that the new FIA rules and regulations need "total clarity". He further added that they must be explained to the teams and drivers very clearly, ahead of the 2011 season. Among
other changes, the Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) is an important one which has been brought back to the sport after a year. Moreover, the arrival of Pirelli, the Italian tyre supplier is also a huge thing and all the teams are looking forward for
some big adjustments in their cars and strategies for the new rubber. Another important change in the rules is regarding the adjustable rear wings which will bring more overtaking in the sport.
Di Montezemolo concluded saying, "I hope we start the season with total clarity as regards the regulations. I am not worried about it, but our experience of 2009 still grates."
