Olympique de Marseille have denied reports that the club has agreed to sell their full-back to the Premier League outfit
Reports from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 claimed that Les Phoceens have agreed a deal with the reining European champions for the 22-year-old.
However, Marseille president, Vincent Labrune has rubbished such reports and has stressed that there is no truth behind such stories.
Chelsea are keen to attain the services of the highly-rated right-back and have been courting the player for last couple of months.
Following the departure of Jose Bosingwa, the London club is in dire need of a proven right-back and the bosses at the club have identified Azpilicueta as the player, who can bring much needed stability to the side.
While talking to reporters, Vincent Labrune added that the Premier League giants are in contact with L’OM regarding the Spaniard’s transfer, but insisted that a deal is far from done between the two sides.
The presence of Labrune and his sporting director, Jose Anigo, in London added fuel to the fire that a deal had been agreed. However, when asked about that, the club president said that he is in London for some other matters and Azpilicueta’s transfer to
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in not on his agenda.
"I do not know who started this story, but they are totally wrong. It surely comes from agents that have an interest in the deal.”
Labrune slammed those who are making such rumours and added that such speculation will not make a difference.
"Maybe they imagine that by running around making a noise about 8 million Euros it will make a difference, but it will not.”
Cesar Azpilicueta is still a Marseille player, and the club president has stated that the defender will stay at Stade Velodrome if Chelsea fail to meet their demands for the former Osasuna player.
Labrune stressed that no further progress has been made regarding that and it’s useless to talk about such rumours which have no truth behind them.
“For the moment nothing is happening."
