No http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Faf-du-Plessis-c1427 for Somerset – Cricket News Update
Somerset have been dealt a blow after Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
The player is currently plying his trade with Indian Premier League outfit, Chennai Super Kings, and has impressed everyone with his attacking displays. After being snubbed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221, who decided to pull out of his deal in a bid to kick-start his international career, Somerset decided to pursue du Plessis’ services for their Friends Life T20 campaign.
He was expected to be their second overseas signings, following the capture of another Proteas’ player – all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JA-Morkel-c1613, who coincidentally also plays for the Super Kings. However, the deal to bring the 27-year-old was subject to clearance from the South African board, which was keen to have their T20 players ready for their commitments against Zimbabwe.
For that, they further wanted du Plessis to play for the South African A side, which will take on Sri Lankan A in early June. All assignments will coincide with Somerset’s FLT20 battles, and Mohammad Moosajee, the Proteas’ team manager, expects the player to return to his country and fulfill his international obligations.
"The period that Somerset want him for is when we have some tours of our own," Moosajee told ESPNcricinfo. "Faf features in the selectors' plans for those tours so it would not be possible for him to go.”
Faf has been in good knick recently, having performed notably for the defending IPL champions, including some electric fielding displays. He has represented the national team in 21 ODIs and is expected to be a part of the side’s World Cup T20 squad.
The news however, will again see http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 looking for reinforcements with Brian Rose, their director of cricket, admitting that it will be difficult to explore other options. "We're still exploring the market but I think I must have run over a whole road of black cats," he said.
The English outfit has been dogged by injuries to key personnel, which includes club captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Dibble-c917.
