I heard that in the two biggest gambling towns in america there is no State Lotto or Lottery, I find it strange about this. Why would places that have a slot machine in every restarant, casinos on every corner, and power tables EVERYWHERE, not have a lottery?

  1. Typically, states have started lotteries as a way to raise extra revenue for the state.

Though some states have both lotteries and other forms of gambling, many times, the citizens have expressed their not wanting "traditional" gambling, as is evidenced by the fact that there are no other cities with the extent of gambling as Reno, Vegas, and Atlantic City.

There are other options, however, if you want to play some of the most popular state and multi-state lotteries, and don't live in the states where there are sold.

The one I use, to play the Powerball and Mega Millions, is an online messenger service. I have been playing online with them for about 6 months, now, and have never had a problem receiving my (meager) winnings.

They also offer the California Super Lotto Plus, Florida Lotto, and a few more.

They also have several affiliate sites you can go through (http://www.loteriasinternational.com is a good one) who offer other incentives, but you end up at the actual company's site in the end, which handles your transactions.

  2. Why do we need a lottery?  We have every other kind of gambling.  However, there is talk of starting a Nevada State Lottery.  It's just in the talking about it stage.

People in Vegas who want to play the lottery either go to the stateline in California or Arizona to get tickets.

  3. That's your answer...the casinos (the largest employers and largest lobbiests) want you spending your money there, they don't want other options.

They do have slot machines and games that have jackpots that are pooled from machines throughout the state (like the Megabucks slots for example) that essentially work like a lotto or lottery type system.
