No Metro: Last Light for the Nintendo Wii U…yet – Nintendo Wii U News

THQ has dampened hopes of prospective Wii U owners who were hoping to get their hands on the upcoming Metro game, Last Light, as it says it has no plans to ship the game on the console at this point in time, yet that could change in the future.
The Nintendo Wii U is moving the Wii brand out of the casual gamers’ party console of choice bracket and rebranding itself as an innovative, more broad high-definition gaming console that can cater to the gaming preferences of a wider audience.
One such game, which if released on the upcoming console, would solidify that notion would have been the dark, gritty and bleak post-apocalyptic shooter, Metro: Last Light. However, it seems that potential Wii U users may never see the Last Light shine on their consoles.
That is because the game’s publisher, THQ, has said that it would focus instead on developing for platforms which it knows best. Mark Madsen, the global brand manager for THQ, also explained that it is the right time to be showing the world their upcoming game.
He said, "No I don't think it was a bit too early (to show Metro: Last Light at E3)," before continuing "As we got along in the development process, we just really wanted to focus on what we knew, focus on PS3, 360 and PC."
He went on to state that the studio had not entirely ruled out the game making an appearance on the Wii U, however, he did concede the fact that it depended on a lot of things to be going right for that to happen.
"The verdict is out on what we can do to maximise the code for the Wii U, and we'll see (what happens)."
One of the reasons for the move has been pinned down to the company’s poor financial performance over the past year and the studio seems reluctant to take any risks as a result. Developing for consoles with a considerable user base and for technology where the code is known are both safer bets than developing for the as yet, unreleased Nintendo Wii U.
