No http://www.senore.com/Cricket/N-Deonarine-c2051 for Windies vs Lions – Cricket News Update
There will be no Narsingh Deonarine for the West Indies when they play England Lions in their second and last tour game, commencing in Northampton, on Thursday, May 10 2012, as visa issues delayed the Guyana off-spinner's arrival in England.
The 28-year-old right-arm off-spinner from Guyana is one of the three http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 players whose arrival in England was delayed by visa issues.
WICB chief executive, Ernest Hilaire, told the media reporters that visas for all the players were applied soon after the team was finalized but the delay in issuance of visa to some of players was due to differences in the process in various states.
"Once we got the team, we applied for visas. Persons from Guyana have a different process to go through to get their visa to travel to England and because it is an Olympic year, there is a new process and each application has to go through a more stringent
process of screening,” WICB chief executive Ernest Hilaire told the Trinidad and Tobago Express.
The other two players, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on Wednesday.
However, despite reaching England a day before the match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808, the jet-lagged off-spinner will be rested for the warm-up game. On the other hand Samuels and Fudadin will, in all probability, make the playing XI for Lions game.
"Fudadin got through but Deonarine is still waiting. Fudadin and Samuels will be available for the warm-up match,” confirmed the WICB chief executive Ernest Hilaire.
“ Deonarine getting his visa all depends on the High Commission and what their final position is. There is nothing we can do from this end. We are totally at their mercy," he added further.
Earlier, the first tour game of West Indies against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852, in Hove, was washed out due to persistent rain. The three-Test series between England and West Indies begins at Lord's on May 17, 2012.
The Test series will be followed by three One Day Internationals and a one-off T20 International. The tourists are also scheduled to play a one-day warm-up game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817 before the limited overs series.
