No New York plans for Reneesgotzip for the time being
The Grade 2 winning filly, Reneesgotzip had travel plans to New York for her next start to participate in a race on the big Memorial Day weekend at Belmont Park, but her plans have been postponed as the filly was going to challenge the toughest in her crop in the Grade 1, $300,000 Acorn Stakes over at a mile.
Trainer Peter Miller has dismissed the idea, and wants to keep her filly at home, where she will train for much bigger races, and the Grade 1 Test Stakes at Saratoga on 25 August, and at year’s end, the filly will be sent to Santa Anita to participate in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint on 2 November, 2012.
“We’re going to punt,” trainer Peter Miller said Tuesday at Hollywood Park. “They’re calling for rain in New York, and to run her a mile right now, possibly on an off track, doesn’t make a lot of sense.”
Owner Debbie Lanni and Miller have decided that they are going to bail out, but before her main goals, as Miller termed them, Reneesgotzip will have to run some prep races, and the options include going to Belmont Park on 2 June, 2012, and participate in the Grade 2 Vagrancy Stakes or go to Hollywood Park and run in the $70,000 Manhattan Beach Stakes on 9 June, 2012.
“She’s doing great. She breezed Monday, but we’re going to wait.” Reneesgotzip has won 3 races and $261,200 from 5 starts.
Bed in Kentucky by John Liviakis, Reneesgotzip broke her maiden at first asking at Hollywood Park’s cushion track going over a distance of six furlongs, and in her second career start bagged the Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes at Santa Anita Park’s dirt course over a distance of six and a half furlongs.
This year, Reneesgotzip got stretched out in distance to 1 mile in the Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes, where she couldn’t overhaul the winner, Eden’s Moon, as she finished second on the day at Santa Anita.
Coupled with Garrett Gomez in her most recent start, Reneesgotzip finished second again in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks to winner, Willa B Awesome.
