Question:

No Peanuts in SAFECO Field??

It was announced that the Seatlle Mariners will have a "peanut controlled zone" August 5th through September 9th. They will clean up these sections and also ban the sales of peanuts there as well. Americas past time is over 100 years old as I believe this is absurd. Please voice your opinion. Whats your take on this matter?

  1. I agree with it. Some people are highly allergic to peanuts. I'm glad they do that just like smoking. You know when I was younger going to games and some idiot kid was throwing peanut shells in my drink, all the while the dad was sitting there allowing it. Yeah they should ban peanuts everywhere in my opinion.

  2. There are some people who are deathly allergic to peanuts. I'm sure this has something to do with it. Still, I think it's going a little overboard even if this is one of the reasons. I think we have become waaaayy to PC for our own good.

  3. I've got no problem with it.  Just touching a peanut shell can give some people a horrible allergic reation.  I hope you're not that selfish that you can't give up peanuts for 2 days in order to allow a person to go see a baseball game without fear of a fatal reaction due to a peanut allergy.

  4. Peanuts are for Elephants!! Keep them in the Circus.

  5. are you serious??? i'm going to the yankee-mariners games in september and i sure hope i can eat peanuts. I would be appalled if they said i couldn't. Preposterous! They are in enough trouble with the fans for stinking it up this year, if they (partially) ban peanuts, i say "nuts to the mariners". Now tell me you are joking, please tell me that.

  6. It is fine it gives people who are allergic a section or two to sit in and don't have to worry about having an allergic reaction.  It's not like they are banned in the whole stadium.

  7. People who have peanut allergies are no joke.  You still have 95% of the stadium to eat peanuts to your hearts content.  Is it so much to ask that people with food allergies don't have to risk their lives to enjoy a ball game?

How can this possibly affect you in any way.  Did you also complain when they installed ramps so people in wheelchairs could gain access to the upper levels.

Seriously, why do you think they are doing this.  People with food allergies can die within minutes if they are exposed.

  8. It is a joke.  But they are some people allergic to p-nuts so I think that is why they are doing it.

  9. It's 2 sections out of about 130 or so in the stadium, and it's for 2 games out of 81.

The dates are Aug. 5 AND Sept. 9.

So unless you have a ticket to a game on those two dates, and by some chance they are in the approximately 1.5 % of the seats that are in those 2 sections, and you somehow can't possibly live for a few hours without peanuts, why should it really matter?

People are overreacting to this big time.

  10. NUTS! (or no nuts actually)

I think everyone who petitioned for this should be Female Dog Slapped w/ an Open Faced Peanut Butter Sandwich!

  11. Sneak the peanuts in? It's probably h**l cleaning up peanuts after every game. Also people who are allergic or can get sick. I'm sure theres a reason.

  12. Sounds like someone is worried about being politically correct in baseball. Ugh.........

  13. It's because there are people with bad allergies and when people crack open the peanuts, the particles can get in their nose and throat.

It's just one section, not the whole stadium. And they're only doing it for a couple games.
