No Pittsburgh Steelers-WR Mike Wallace deal talks as assured by coach Mike Tomlin – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers had demanded wide receiver Mike Wallace’s return to training camp to help the talk process for a new deal for him restart and progress to an amicable solution but there are no more negotiations yet despite the fact that the player
has ended the protest and joined the side unconditionally.
Coach Mike Tomlin, who had then acted as a spokesman on the issue after the receiver did not show up at training camp in protest pending a new and hefty contract demand, has been avoiding answering the question now.
After remaining firm on the course of rebellion during the entire offseason, training camp and then preseason, Wallace rejoined the team in latter part of the preseason. He has played the season opener and second game and apparently is upbeat about his fitness
and form.
While the team has no complaint about the fitness and performance of the receiver, it has not given reasons for the delay in restart of the negotiations even though the player has met the condition of coming back to the side first to facilitate the process
progress smoothly.
Both stakeholders are silent on the issue and have avoided answering direct or indirect questions from media and commentators. The player, who has been assigned restricted free agent tender carrying a value of $2.72 million, has not signed it yet which leads
to a conclusion that irrespective of the delay he still expects a new contract from the team.
Before opting to go rebellious the receiver had tried his luck on the free agency but without any success. Although the Steelers had an option to match the price another side could possibly have offered the player to keep him as a Steeler, the situation
did not come to that point.
After spending a few months outside, Wallace is now back with the team and it is important for the team to start talking new deal with him which some commentators believe is even more significant given the fact that the player has returned to the side unconditionally.
