  1. It's baseball season in the United States.

  2. Because it's the middle of baseball season and no team wants to let a pro player to stop in the middle of winning their division.

There is however World Baseball Classic that plays in 2009 then every 4 years where professionals will compete against each other respresenting their own country.

  3. Example:  Sorry Yankees fans.  We couldn't make it to the World Series this year because A-Rod and Jeter were playing for free in the Olympics.

  4. I thought baseball wasn't even going to be in the olympics anymore??

  5. Perhaps because we are in the middle of baseball season and they are chasing those $$!

  6. It might be because the Olympics happen during their regular season.

  7. Thank goodness there isn't, professionals should not be allowed in the Olympics.

  8. There are no major league pros, but there are pros who are playing from double and single a teams.  I think even a couple of players from triple A clubs.  Just no one from the majors.  The minor league players are still considered pros.

  9. BASEBALL SEASON

  10. I don't see a problem with them shortening the season a little every 4 years.  Even change the schedule around.  It would be awesome to see the American Pro team get beat.  No fun beating the college players knowing there is a better team out there.

  11. In the middle of a BASEBALL SEASON!!!

  12. Because the MLB does not allow it's players to compete.
