No Significant Progress for Philadelphia Flyers Chris Pronger -NHL Update
Unfortunately, the Philadelphia Flyers and fans might not see Chris Pronger for another season, if a lockout does not come into play, as the veteran captain is reported to be feeling the same as he was previously and is still experiencing headaches due to
the severe concussions the forward has faced.
The 37-year-old, for some, is just better of retiring, but the Philadelphia Flyers continue to grieve his absence as it certainly gives them a disadvantage without his veteran and dominating presence on the ice to take them forward.
Last season, the veteran managed to participate in the opening 13 games of the regular season and was forced to leave when another concussion struck the player after he was just getting fully back to himself on the ice. In 2010-2011, Pronger appeared in
50 matchups and potted 25 points (4 goals, 21 assists), after which it was learnt that the headaches were just too severe to handle any more and he needed as much rest as possible.
The most depressing part of the whole situation is the fact that Pronger has not improved at all and is still experiencing the same symptoms as he was a year back, which could potentially be leading to an early retirement for the player in order to ensure
that he goes out before it gets any worse with him attempting to make a comeback.
It would be sad for many fans, especially those of the orange and black jerseys as they continue yearning to see Chris Pronger back on the ice and playing with the Philadelphia Flyers, but it is just a reality that they have to face and might see happening
in the near future.
He is currently signed on to the Philadelphia Flyers up until the 2016-2017 regular season and may not even be playing next season, given the condition that it is not locked out. A lock out would benefit him for sure, giving him more time to recover, but
nothing for sure can be said about that just yet.
Updates should be expected in the upcoming weeks and months as the Philadelphia Flyers will continue updating the media on Chris Pronger’s condition.
