No Sound After Re-Installing Windows...HELP!?

I had to uninstall and reinstall windows on my computer because of a virus that just wouldn't die. So after re-installing it, I discover that I don't have any sound on my computer.

I know that I just need to find the right drivers in order to have sound again but the thing is...my computer is a custom built. The store I got it from is about an hour from my home and I don't have time to go up there for them to keep my computer overnight just to install the driver.

They can't tell me what I have on here without seeing it because they don't keep records of the towers that they build. They told me to open up the side panel and look for the part number but the only one I see is for the 56k modem part from Gateway.

Here's the Belarc Advisor profile for my computer:

I know this computer has sound! I got it about 2 years ago and the sound worked the whole time. This is the first time I had to re-install my Windows.

Thank you for all the help in advance!

  1. All these informations you gave are not necessary in your case. Your machine brand is the most important thing. click start, all programs, accessories, system tools, click system information and take notice of your brand, model of machine.

Your sound driver has been removed when you reinstalled, all you have to do now is, incase you donot know the site to your machine brand/model, use www.google.com to search for it, download sound driver and install on your machine.

This should work out for you. Take not of this, make sure you download a sound driver that suits your machine (xp service pack 2 or so on).

Hope this is cuul for ya.
