No Spin to flash his talent in the Springboard Mile at Remington Park
The Springboard Mile at Remington Park on 12 December, 2011, could be anyone’s race, with no one brining in the best credentials to pose any threat on the field, Steven Asmussen trained Seeker and Wilson Brown trained son of Wild Tale, Ted’s Folly, who is
seeking his sixth straight win, appear to be the top runners for the $300,000 event.
However, there are runners who are ready to take on this challenge and show their connections that they are worthy runners on dirt and can improve to challenge major races run on dirt.
One such candidate is Tim A. Ice trained, No Spin, who is exiting a victory in the Royal Glint Stakes on turf at Hawthorne race course at about a mile under Eduardo Perez.
No Spin downed Scatter a Star in second position and Southern Parkway in third, while cover the Royal Glint Stakes mile distance in 1 minute and 40.48 seconds.
This is a perfect opportunity for No Spin to prove himself at two turns on dirt. “I don’t see anybody in the race being the even-money favorite,” said Wilson Brown, who trains Ted’s Folly. “There are so many questions in this race. It’s going to be an interesting
race.”
The son of Johannesburg, out of mare Dash For Money by General Meeting, No Spin was entered in the Grade 3, $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot which was held last month, but couldn’t make it in the 10 starters for the race.
“I think it looks like a very competitive field,” said Tim Ice, who trains No Spin. “I think we definitely belong in there. I’m not happy with the 12-hole. We’ll have to overcome the post. But overall, he has the talent and deserves to be in the race.”
The Kentucky bred No Spin is the Grade 1 Champagne alum, where he finished sixth to winner  Union Rags at Belmont Park on 8 October,2011, on dirt at about a mile.
He broke his maiden at Arlington Park over a distance of five and a half furlongs on synthetic surface and then finished fourth in his second race at Arlington Park in the Grade 3 Arlington-Washington Futurity.
