I have a Panasonic TH-50PZ700A plasma tv and a Panasonic SC-HT65 home theater system. Ive connected them together with a HDMI cable but no sound is being produced by the Home theater. I know both the tv and HT work but i dont know why no sound is passing, can anyone help me? I am pretty sure the cable is plugged into the right sockets.

  1. unless your HDMI cable is V1.3 it wont carry an audio signal to your home theatre... you need to use an optical or a coaxial  cable.

or just some bog standard RCA cables whilst you upgrade your HDMI cable.

  2. What is your video source? It is likely that you are getting the original sound from a source like a cable box. The TV has to be "told" to transmit this sound via the HDMI to the Home theater system.

There are two options for you:

    1) Adjust the settings on the TV so that the sound is being output via the HDMI cables.

    2) Connect the video source (cable/satellite box) directly to the home theater reciever via HDMI then run an HDMI from the home theater to the TV.
