No Tendulkar for Mumbai in crucial Ranji Trophy fixture – Cricket News Update
Legendary Indian batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy, revealed a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official on Wednesday. The 39-year-old batting prodigy will be, however, available for selection in the knockout stages of the tournament, should the side progress to the quarterfinals.
Mumbai, who are currently placed third on Ranji Trophy’s points table, tied with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gujarat-c787 to keep their hopes of progressing to the next round alive.
The Mumbai based side would have received a huge boost had the little batting maestro agreed to play in the final league match, commencing at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai from December 29. However, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Cricket Association joint secretary Nitin Dalal told the media reporters today that Sachin has refused from playing in the league fixture.
"I asked him [http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 Tendulkar] if he was available but he said since he is on a break, he won't be able to play [the Gujarat game]. But he has made himself available for the knockouts," said Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Nitin Dalal today.
It may be noted here that Sachin, who has recently retired from One day International cricket, had played for Mumbai in their season opening Ranji match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Railways-c836 last month, scoring an impressive 137 at more than a run a ball. The match had ended in a draw though.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) selectors, headed by national chief selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdullah-c41657, who missed a crucial catch on the boundary in the previous game, has been dropped from the team.
