No Way Back clinches leads as Aleph Sailing Team picks second spot on Day 2 of 2011 RC44 Sweden Cup
Netherlands’ No Way Back has taken the overall lead of 2011 RC44 Sweden Cup at the end of Day 2. The Dutch sailing team clinched a ninth, first and a fourth place in all three races of the day to finish on top of the standings with 21 points. France’s Aleph
Sailing Team occupied second place overall, despite a 14th place in the second race of the day.
Day 2 of RC44 Sweden Cup featured three different winners in three races under ideal wind conditions in Marstrand. Austria’s sailing team AEZ took the very first race of the day under the breeze which shifted left throughout the day. The current fleet leaders
No Way Back took the second race while the Russian sailors on Team Nika yacht grabbed the third win.
No Way Back had a consistently convincing sail on Day 2 which brought them in overall top position in the regatta. The French Aleph Sailing Team is just one point behind the Dutch yacht in second place while Great Britain’s Team Aqua is in third place with
25 points on the scoreboard.
While speaking to the local media at the conclusion of Day 2, No Way Back owner Pieter Heerema said, “We won’t be trying to do anything different tomorrow just keep consistent, good starts allow you to sail your own race and in these conditions it’s really
good if you have the room to do your own thing. If you get caught in the fleet it’s like a pin ball machine, you get bounced around.”
