No action taken against Tim Southee for immoral incident
Tim Southee, the New Zealand fast bowler, who was thought to be involved in a lewd incident with a woman, has been cleared by the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC), as there is no proper evidence found against him.
Southee, who was travelling on an Emirates flight from Sydney to Dubai with the 15-man squad for the ICC World Cup, was accused of an intimate involvement with a woman during the flight.
A traveller claimed that he had seen the Kiwi star player involved with a woman in a vulgar incident. He feels that the athlete’s condition was so shameful that Southee should have been sent home on disciplinary grounds.
However, the New Zealand Cricket CEO, Justin Vaughan, told in an interview that the incident has been made to sound more important than it actually is, and, NZC will not take any action against Tim.
Southee’s colleagues also revealed that the meeting between the two only occurred for not more than 30 seconds, and it was just a kiss on the cheek.
The Manager, Dave Currie, also has backed his player, saying that the incident has been portrayed incorrectly.
Currie said, “Southee and the young women only chatted. I've spoken to Tim directly as well as team management. Tim has described a detailed version of events and has provided a written statement in relation to this”.
The manager added, "I also spoke with several individuals and held a team meeting. Everyone is adamant that nothing untoward occurred on the flight and are surprised about the reports”.
The team will head to India to take part in the International Cricket Council (ICC) 2011 World Cup. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in a One Day International (ODI) series at home.
