I made it to London. I'm here now and the directions were right on. I even saw my sister at Paddington Station. We made it to our hotel, Pembridge Palace on Princes Square close to Bayswater and it was a dump. The neighborhood was young and urban and has some really nice shops. Everything worked out great because we went up the street and found a really nice hotel, the New Linden. It's new and they had hardly any patrons and they gave us a room with a veranda/outdoors sitting area for half the cost at the dive hotel. No air conditioning is culture shock for me. I had no idea. It's a little uncomfortable putting on make up while getting dressed because you leave your room sweating a little.

Also, I've seen many diffrerent nationalities, Polish, Middle Eastern, Asian and African. It seems that the English have found other options in London.

I think I'm stuck in an old English novel, looking for Agatha Christie. How silly!

  1. You won't find Agatha Christie babe more like Tony Christie.

  2. There is no a/c in London because it is only ever this hot for about 2 weeks a year! You got lucky, enjoy it! Normally you could expect very variable temperatures and lots of rain, sheesh, we don't have New York summers here. Have fun! Hx

  3. so glad to hear you did the journey OK and also glad you got the hotel sorted out ... a lot of London hotels boast about having air con but in our climate it's not all that often you need it, central heating is much more important ... yes London is very multicultural, if you want to see more English people you'll have to get out to the countryside ... how long are you here for?

  4. There is A/C in London, however unlike somewhere hot like Australia where the air travels thru a cooling coil to make it cold,in England it goes thru a heating coil to make it warm, they usually have thermostats that u can set.I'm  English from London and i got outta the place years ago to Sydney Australia, and i never think about going back.Virtually everyone i grew up with has moved out too.
