No central contract for Jesse Ryder, confirms David White – Cricket News Update
The chief executive officer of New Zealand Cricket, David White, has confirmed that the board will not award a central contract to out-of-favour all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JD-Ryder-c1679 for the 2012 season.
The NZC CEO announced the decision after Ryder’s routine annual performance review process, which is a must for all the contracted players at the end of every calendar year.
"All of the evidence shows that Jesse is on the right track, both on and off the field, but we're aware that there are still steps to be made," said White while speaking to media reporters.
"While cricket remains an important part of his life, it is his health and well-being that need to be the primary focus," the New Zealand cricket chief executive added further.
Ryder, the 27-year-old left-handed batsman from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in June-July. David White had said that the all-rounder would not be considered for national selection until he proves
“commitment to the game”.
The Wellington all-rounder, who has a prolonged history of disciplinary issues, was dropped from New Zealand squad for the third ODI against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in February following an alcohol-related misdemeanour. He was then left out
of the squad for three Test series against Proteas, a move which prompted the cricketer to take an indefinite break from cricket.
But he later moved to the subcontinent to play for Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the recently concluded IPL-V. During the itinerary, Ryder was accompanied by a support structure, consisting of his manager Aaron Klee and clinical psychologist
Karen Nimmo. The all-rounder has had a successful stint with the Warriors, during which he played 11 games for the franchise, compiling 256 runs.
The Wellington-born Kiwi all-rounder, who has so far played 18 Tests, 39 One Day Internationals and 20 T20 Internationals, expressed satisfaction over the results of his review and hoped to don the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 colours soon.
"Very happy with how my review went today and looking forward to this winter and what it has to offer," he tweeted. "Also looking forward to playing for NZ again when the time is right."
