No change in Detroit Lions WR Titus Young's status says head coach Jim Schwartz - NFL News
Detroit Lions still have not given any official explanation for the absence of wide receiver, Titus Young from practice.
Young has been missing from the Lions practice sessions since he punched safety, Louis Delmas, in the face after a spat took place between the two players last week.
The wide receiver did not take part in practice sessions on Monday when the franchise opened its organised team activities (OTAs). It was reported in various media that Young has been barred indefinitely from the team’s practice sessions after the incident.
Speaking to Mlive.com on Wednesday, coach, Jim Schwartz dodged questions regarding Young and said that there is no change in the situation involving the wide receiver.
"I think I addressed that a couple of days ago. That's the most I'm going to address it. When there is a change, I will address it again."
Both players had a heated exchange last week and when Delmas had his back turned to Young the wide receiver lashed out with a cheap shot to his face.
Since that incident the wide receiver has been missing from practice and it seems that the Lions are disciplining the player by refusing him access to the team’s practice sessions.
No timetable has yet been provided by either the Lions or Young himself over when he can rejoin the team.
Schwartz went on to talk about team discipline.
"There's all kinds of different things. There's things that happen. There's some things that should be avoided. There's other things that can't be avoided. Every single situation is a little bit different.”
Adding further he said that such spats can cost the team if they occur during the season.
"One thing you don't want to have, if you're on the field, fighting is a 15-yard penalty and cause for ejection. Those things are not good for us."
The wide receiver is known for his hot-headedness and this was another case where Young lost control.
However, his teammates are not too worried about his absence and defensive end, Cliff Avril tweeted that such incidents occur.
"Things happen. They will be fine,"
Hopefully the Lions do not face disciplinary issues that distract the team from its training for the upcoming season.
