From the BBC "A 34-year-old shopkeeper questioned on suspicion of murder after a would-be robber was fatally stabbed has been told he will not face charges.

Liam Kilroe, 25, from Billinge, near St Helens, Merseyside, was wanted by police when he was killed with his own knife in Skelmersdale on 17 February.

Police believe he was trying to rob Tony Singh, who owns the Lifestyle Express store in the Birleywood area.

The shopkeeper was arrested but later bailed pending further inquiries."

Well thank God common sense has prevailed and quite frankly, serves himself right. Do you agree?

  4. Just read that myself and was going to post the same question!

    Absolutely agree with you.

  5. I'm pleased he wasn't charged, it was obviously a case of self defence, but it did have to be investigated.

  6. 100% agree, self defense it was

  7. Yes. The shop keeper was being threatened with a knife and SHOULD have the right to defend himself.

All is fair in Love & War.

  8. Good for him!. He's free and the sh*thead's dead. Deadly force should be allowed for self defense.

  9. serves himself right?

wow social tolerance and reform are high on your agenda.

  10. Common sense was never really in doubt.

A man was killed and quite rightly it was investigate who, on my undersatdning of events, found the right outcome.

There are circumstances where it is wrong to kill an attacker.  For example, if you are robbed and they are running away and you hunt them down and kill them, then you cannot claim it was self defense and it was an act of vengeance.

It is only right that all cases as investigated to ensure the right outcome which is exavtly what happened with this case.

I would not like the idea of anyone being robbed going around killing people knowing they would be let off.  It should be a case of self-defense and that doesn't include shooting people in the back as the leave you house, Tony Martin.

But ye, if you thought your life was at risk, you should be, and are allowed to, kill in self defense

  11. Justice has been properly served in this case. The guy got what he deserved quite frankly.

  12. h**l yes, common sense prevails at last. He would still been alive if he wasn't committing armed robbery. Lets hope this serves as a warning to other wannabe robbers

  13. Hail to the shopkeeper and good riddance to the bad guy, he will not be missed. In the US; especially the Southern part, we are allowed to to defend ourselves with deadly force if needed.

In Oklahoma, you are allowed to shoot anyone who forcibly enters your home at night. You can also use deadly force anywhere that your life is threatened, you have no requirement to attempt to flee.

I would like to know why Sam and those of his ilk think that allowing yourself to be murdered is a sign of social tolerance. Not allowing good people to operate with a sense of freedom and safety is what causes society to break down, not self defense.
