http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Douglas-c11600, has long been linked with a move away from his current club to join a top European club in the ongoing January transfer window.
The 24-year-old, who arrived at De Grolsch Veste at the start of the 2007/08 season from Joinville, has been putting in solid shows consistently while wearing the Tukkers colours for the past couple of seasons.
His impressive performances have garnered him interest from a host of elite European clubs including the likes of AC Milan, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Bayern Munich and Anzhi Makhachkala, who have expressed keen interest in luring the talented stopper away from
De Grolsch Veste.
Rumours were rife that Inter Milan, Reading and Newcastle United have set their sights on acquiring the services of the 24-year-old in the ongoing January transfer window.
However, the central defender’s agent, Marcos Paulo Ribeiro, has made it clear that he has yet to hear from any of these interested parties.
“So far we have not had contact with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567. And according to our knowledge there has not been an offer. The same applies to Reading. Newcastle? We begun discussions with them in the last transfer window, but there are no negotiations now”, Ribeiro was quoted
as saying to the media.
The 24-year-old’s representative went on to confirm that they have turned down an offer from one of the clubs playing in the German Bundesliga.
“Three Bundesliga clubs want him and we have already rejected a formal proposal. Now we have to wait”, Ribeiro added.
The central defender’s agent, however, has confirmed that his client is fully focused on putting in his 100 percent on the pitch for the Tukkers despite transfer talks surrounding him.
“Douglas is focused on Twente and he is a player who has always done well for the team”, Ribeiro concluded.
The Brazilian-born Dutch stopper, who has thus far represented FC Twente in well over 100 Eredivisie appearances, has an expiring contract at De Grolsch Veste that runs until the summer of 2013.
