Question:

No dial tone on land line, TNI has dial tone?

I left town for four days and upon returning realized I had no dial tone and (more importantly) no DSL. I tried unplugging all the phones in my home and still nothing.

I unscrewed the Telephone Network Interface (grey box) outside my home and plugged a working phone directly into it. I got a dial tone!

I think that means that the problem is not on Verizon's part but rather on the wiring in my home. My bills are all paid up (through the next two months) and the phones are all in working order. What should I do?

  1. This is happening to me right now as well.  I asked the same question and no one has replied.  I have no idea what could be wrong.  My phone is giving me a busy signal..and I have Verizon as well.  WTF?  Let me know if you figure anything out, and I will do the same.

  2. Big Daddy G: Since you get Dialtone at D-mark,the trouble is toward the house. By chance has anyone been into your D-mark while away? There should be 2 wires connected to the jack that you get Dialtone. Next, go inside where the telephone wires or cable enters & start tracing the various paths the cables are run to the different locations. You may find a bad connection. Has anyone done any work in the house while away? As a last resort, run a new CAT5, 4 pair cable from the D-mark to a jack near your computer. Use the Blue pair. At the jack ,plug in the adapter. Plug DSL filter into one jack & phone into Filter. Plug computer modem into other jack.( NO DSL FILTER to MODEM).I hope this can help you.  exbelltel
