No dialling tone on BT Hub phone?

I have no dialling tone when i pick up my BT phone hub but can still make calls ok

Why am i not getting a dialling tone ?

hey i used to work at the b.t faults dept last year have you rang them to check your line? before you ring if you can try a different phone in the socked take out the hub and put in different phone if you still dont get a tone if your hone line has a line through the middle it means you have a test line so if you unscrew the screws and put the hub phone into the test line if youstill don t get a tone or even if you do get a tone in the test socked ring bt and they will check the line for you it may be the line or your hub good luck! :)

It could actually be your handset, try a different one.

when you pick up the phone you dont get dial tone until you press the green button it sounds to me like your just picking up the phone and listening the home hub phone works like a normal cordless phone in this respect.

when you make a call you dial the number then hit the green button and that pressing the green button connects the line and dial tone and allows the phone to dial out.

I suspect the hub may need rebooting! Power it down and leave it for a minute then power back up.

Check that all the lights come back on steady especially the "Phone" light, on the hub.

Then re-activate your broadband talk service:

Go to the following:

https://service.btbroadbandvoice.bt.com/...

Enter your BB talk phone number and Password,then click next.

On next screen click "Configure hub/router"
