Question:

No dialtone with Vonage?

I am trying to sort this out through the customer service, but I don't know if they really have the right answer. My phone adapter has, for the past few days, been acting really weird. Sometimes, the ready light is green, sometimes it blinks yellow. Whenever I turn on the handset, the "In Use" light comes on, but the ready light goes off and there is no dialtone. They think my power supply is busted, and are going to replace it. Sound right? Anyone else ever have this problem? I need my Vonage T__T I live in Germany, and can't call home without it costing an arm and a leg without it.

  1. The only thing they can do is try to replace the adapter box they gave you in first place... and hope that fixes it....

However, when the ready light goes out (on the phone adapter), usually means you have "lost registration" with your voIP service.

Lost registration can be caused by numerous things.

1- It could be faulty VoIP adapter, but that is actually rare.

2- It is most common when Internet connection is disrupted.

3 - Are you using wireless router?  There could be wireless issues, unless ATA phone adapter is directly connected to router via cable and not wireless.

4 - Your modem or router has lost its IP address assignment from your ISP (Internet Service Provider).  Do you have good and reliable Internet connection with your PC?

5 - Have you made any configuration changes to Router or ATA recently before you started having problems with VoIP?

Other than Internet connection problems, router and ATA configuration issues are more common than actual hardware failures.

  2. You need to call in your service provider and get it replaced, most of the companies provide phone care and wire care plan and tehy would replace the hard ware
