Question:

No disrespect towards Hopkins, but doesn't his "hit once, then hold" style get older than month-old shrimp?

I've always been impressed in Bernard's work ethic, natural abilities, and endurance. His legendary status is never going to be in jeopardy. . .and he's a first-ballot HOF'er.

***I've noticed, though, that in his last few fights, he doesn't have the TENACITY that he once had. Is his age showing? I saw an old legend fight against Calzaghe, who threw a shot, then clutched the younger Welshman until the ref seperated, or until Joe "seperated them with punches". Any thoughts?

  1. Yes! My new name for him is Bernard 'lunge and grab' Hopkins.

  2. Well Chrissy You Are Certainly Correct Again

  3. you just can't teach an old dog new tricks.

or maybe he likes joe so much he just gotta hug him after he throws a punch at him.

  4. I think you're right about his age. Maybe also the fact that he knew Calzaghe was technically better than him so wanted to drag him down to his level.
