No distance is long for Vancouver Canucks’ fans to support their team in its path to Stanley Cup Finals
Geoff Hunter, Don McFarlane and Doug Sandover are among some of Vancouver Canucks’ diehard fans.
The three fans were gathered around their television sets to witness the third game of the series between Canucks and San Jose Sharks. Nothing could make them move an inch away from the television as they supported Canucks the same way as if they were present at the HP Pavilion Center.
Their wives were surprised to hear their conversation about a trip and that too about some boy. This was after Canucks lost the game by 4-3 to Sharks.
Both friends, Doug and Geoff, were arguing about something on the phone and it seemed as if they were eager to come to a solution about a trip.
"He says we are 40, our team is in Western Conference Finals, this may be our year, so let's make it memorable," Geoff said, regaling us with a story they will tell their grandkids. "I said, 'Let's go.' I said it before I even talked to my wife."
Finally the men revealed their secret that they wanted to go to watch the fourth game of Canucks versus Sharks as the team needed their support.
Initially the wives didn’t take this seriously but the husbands said that they would be back by Monday and this is what convinced their wives to let them go.
The three men left off and crossed several borders from Washington to Oregon in a 16 hour drive and finally managed to reach San Jose.
The tickets had already been arranged so that the three fans wouldn’t be disappointed after travelling a long distance. The three men, in their early 40s, are about the same age as Vancouver Canucks.
The men wore their Canucks’ jerseys to the game and their presence might have motivated Canucks. The game took place this Sunday and resulted in a 4-2 win for them and gave them a 3-1 series lead.
